Audio Department : Recording Studios and Labs

SAE Los Angeles' extensive audio facilities consists of purpose-built recording, mixdown and editing studios professionally fitted with industry standard equipment from the world's most famous manufacturers.

  • Neve DFC film mixing console in a 30 seat, 5.1 surround sound mixing theatre;
  • SSL AWS 900 hybrid console control room with Total Recall, surround monitoring;
  • Digidesign ICON 32 fader control room, surround monitoring;
  • Neve V3 88 input analog control room, stereo monitoring;
  • Mackie DXb 72 channel control room, surround & Logic Pro DAW control;
  • AMEK Big 44 channel control room, stereo monitoring;
  • Monitoring by Genelec, Mackie and Blue Sky Systems;
  • Four uniquely tuned studios for band and artist tracking during student projects;
  • Two Pro Tools mixing suites;
  • Mix stations with Mackie and Yamaha consoles;
  • Pro Tools HD systems in all large console control rooms;
  • Logic Studio MIDI stations;
  • Sampling Suite with Logic Pro, Virus, turn tables, and various software synths and samplers;
  • Otari 24 track 2" analog tape machine;
  • Every new student receives their own Apple laptop computer with Pro Tools, Peak, Logic Studio 8, and headphones.

Film Department: Final Cut & AVID Suites

The Digital Film Editing course are SAE-LA offers students edit sites and equipment with industry standard software and hardware, which enables DFE students to complete various projects from documentaries to music videos.

  • Neve DFC film mixing console in a 30 seat, 5.1 surround sound mixing theatre for final print and screening of student projects;
  • Apple based log and capture suite for use by students to transfer from digital and analog cameras into the system for editing and FX using FCP;
  • Film suites with Final Cut Pro Bundle 2, AVID Media Composer, DVD Studio Pro and NTCS monitors for color correction (using Color);
  • Studio B green screen room for compositing and shooting exercises;
  • Photoshop stations for 2D editing, static design and filtering;
  • Scoring suite ising Logic 8 Studio in conjunction with Final Cut Pro;
  • Each student receives an external hard drive for project storage and can option to itemize upgrade the package to a MacBook Pro with Final Cut or AVID software.
